Be Different

There is so much out there – products, information, business, etc. How do you know what to choose? Well, there is no “right” answer. I have been struggling with this a lot lately and wrapping my head around everything that is available to me at my fingertips. Literally, you can have things delivered to you same day! Wow! So how does this correlate to your business and life? The answer is to be different.

As a consumer I am always looking for new ideas and ways to try new things. Currently, I am putting together my family Christmas presents (yes, Christmas) and I am working on an innovative and creative present. I am working on a theme and a play off what is going on in the world today. It’s a cross between creative, buy local, and be sustainable. I want my family to know what is going on in our city and what is going on in our lives. I am writing each family a letter and will present them with something that is unique to the theme for this holiday season.

As business owners, we have to think about our consumers or clients. We have to constantly think about ways to stand apart while adhering to our mission and vision of our company. There is no one answer and there is no one option. One of the many things I like about our work is meeting new people and learning new things. It lends a hand to creative thinking.

Think about being different in two ways. The first is to make the best decision with the information you have at the time. You cannot let perfection get in the way of possible. If you are trying to figure out how to be different, just try something new. Step out of your comfort zone. The second is that no two company or person is the same, so no solution will be the same. What is best for me may not be what is best for you. Set yourself apart from the ordinary and break away from the norm.

If everything you have read today makes you feel uncomfortable, GOOD! Stepping away from your comfort zone means you are growing.

Be yourself, be confident, and be different.

When business gets better, life gets better.
